Meet Jade Lewon
Welcome to my Med Style Blog!
I found my dream home and lifestyle in the Mediterranean, and I am truly captivated by the slow living culture and all there is to learn about this beautiful region.
I grew up in a cold climate, Canada, and spent 20 years based out of Switzerland during my career.
My career in sustainable development has taken me to posts around the world from Mexico, Colombia and South Africa to Australia, India and South Korea. I have been inspired by the rituals of each culture and intrigued by the diversity of lifestyles from each experience. My career has provided me with knowledge about advancing our personal and societal development in ways that respect nature and enable equal opportunities for all to live their best life.
I try to integrate what I have learned into my daily lifestyle; as my own expression of sustainable living.
I love DIY. From home renovations, to gardening, innovating recipes, self-care, and off-the-beaten-track travel explorations. It’s the simple pleasures in learning how everything works; and enabling, with my own hands and imagination, my vision to come to life.
We can do (almost) everything ourselves. Which is not only more economical, but also a blissful journey without a destination.
My latest project, and the topic of this blog, is an exploration into the Mediterranean lifestyle. I am curious to learn about its secrets, its history, and how it is manifesting around the world. I am also interested in how to apply its lessons to health and wellness rituals, anti-aging, and recipes; to sustainable, off-grid living including, its architecture, growing food, saving water, and leveraging the sun; plus its meaning of slow and self-sustaining living.
I started this blog originally to share the answers I found to the many questions I had about: buying a house in a foreign country, renovating a house in a foreign country, gardening in a hot climate, and the Mediterranean diet - in case others had similar questions.
As I started blogging weekly, I found that there was much more I wanted to share about the local products, travel gems, and slow living rhythms that I was discovering. Plus all of the new questions about Mediterranean living that I am exploring now.
If you are interested and intrigued by the Mediterranean lifestyle, join me in the discovery, and DIY your own Med Style.
